The SMART GROWTH COALITION FOR GREATER CINCINNATI & NORTHERN KENTUCKY

is a non-profit coalition of a diverse group of citizens and organizations with a positive vision for improving the quality of life in the Tristate. Our mission is to cultivate public interest in smart growth alternatives to sprawling development through education and community outreach.

The Sierra Club ranked the Greater Cincinnati region as the 4th largest sprawling major metropolitan area in the United States. Hearing this and concerned about their reputation, a number of residents met on a cold, rainy Saturday in 2000. From this group, a grassroots coalition of planners, architects, civic groups, professional organizations and individuals formed the Smart Growth Coalition.
